Police are hunting a Romanian housekeeper after £350,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a London hotel where she was working.

Scotland Yard want to trace the woman identified as Marinela Manolesu, 28, after a suitcase containing the gems was taken from an unidentified hotel in Knightsbridge.

British police have alerted the authorities in Romania as Manolesu is believed to have taken a flight there a few days after the theft last month, the Daily Mail reported.

Anyone with any information about her whereabouts is urged to contact police.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: ‘Officers are appealing for the public’s help to trace a woman after jewelry was stolen from a hotel in central London.

‘Marinela Manolesu is wanted after a suitcase containing around £350,000 worth of jewellery was stolen on Sunday October 8.

‘Our inquiries to date suggest she left the UK and travelled to Romania on Sunday October 15.

Anyone with any information about Marinela’s whereabouts is asked to call police, the report said.
