Romania got 45 billion euros more than it contributed to the EU-Profit.ro

Romania received almost 45 billion euros more than it contributed to the European Union budget, since it joined the European Union, a publication said Wednesday.

Profit.ro which analyzed data said at the end of December 2021, Romania had received 68.75 billion in euros, while it had paid 24 billion euros into the EU budget in the last 15 years.

Separately, Romanian stands to receive 2 billion euros through the NextGenerationEU (2021-2023) project.

It already cashed in 1.85 billion in December as an advance Profit.ro reported.

Some 123 million euros are  recovery assistance for cohesion through the REACT-EU program.  Profit.ro reported.

European funds have been one of the most important, if not the most important, source of funding for authorities at a national and local level, They have also helped the private sector

Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU on January 1, 2007.
