Romania posts more than 2,000 Covid-19 cases for 4th day in a row, record number of patients in intensive care

Romania has recorded more than 2,000 new cases of coronavirus for the fourth day in a row.

The Strategic Communication Group said there were 2,064 cases of Covid-19 and 32 deaths, fewer than Friday.

A record 583 patients with Covid-19 were in intensive care units.  The number of patients in intensive care has steadily risen since Sept. 21

One person who died was in their 30s and two were in their 40s and four patients were in their 50s. The rest of the deaths were people over 60. They all had underlying health issues, such as cancer, diabetes or heart disease.

Some 24,940 tests were carried out giving a positive rate of 8.28%.

There were more than 100 cases in four places, including in the Romanian capital.

There were 206 cases in Bucharest, far less than Friday when there were more than 5,000.

In the northeastern region of Iasi, there were 172 cases and the neighboring county of Neamt, there were 148.

There were 101 in the northeastern county of Vaslui and 99 in the southwestern county of Timis. In the eastern county of Bacau, there were 98.

There has been a total of 134,065 cases of coronavirus and  107,058 patients have recovered.
