The Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation has announced the 17th edition of its annual Royal Charity Concert. The gala will take place on October 25 at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest and will be attended by members of Romania’s Royal Family.

One of the most prominent annual philanthropic cultural events on Romania’s classical music calendar, the event raises funds for educational scholarships dedicated to emerging musicians and visual artists from Romania.

Notably, beneficiaries will also include talented young people from the Republic of Moldova from this year on.

The 2026 concert will feature acclaimed Romanian baritone Mihai Damian and soprano Georgiana Dumitru, accompanied by the Camerata Regală orchestra under the direction of conductor Tiberiu Soare. The evening’s repertoire will highlight celebrated works from the operatic tradition, performed by two artists representing different stages of Romania’s contemporary classical music scene.

Mihai Damian, a soloist with the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca, has gained international recognition following his success at the 2025 Operalia competition, one of the world’s most prestigious contests for young opera singers. The competition, chaired by legendary tenor Plácido Domingo, awarded Damian several distinctions, further consolidating his position among Romania’s rising opera talents.

Joining him on stage will be soprano Georgiana Dumitru, a soloist at the National Opera Bucharest. Dumitru’s participation carries special significance, as she is herself a former beneficiary of the Royal Foundation’s Young Talents scholarship program. Her career development is often cited as an example of the program’s long-term impact on supporting gifted young artists who face financial obstacles in pursuing professional training.

Proceeds generated through ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations will be directed toward the foundation’s Young Talents national scholarship initiative. Since its launch in 2009, the program has awarded 506 scholarships and has provided mentoring opportunities, professional guidance, and promotional support to hundreds of promising young artists across the country.

The initiative targets talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them access specialized education, artistic training, competitions, masterclasses, and professional development opportunities that might otherwise be beyond their financial reach.

Tickets are now available online.

Donations are encouraged this year, as are tax redirections.
