Three Romanians killed, 4 injured after bus overturns in Slovenia

A Romanian bus overturned  Friday in northeastern Slovenia, killing three Romanian nationals and injuring four, the foreign ministry in Bucharest said.

The injured were transported to hospital following the early morning accident, Romanian officials said.

The accident happened around 5 a.m.on a freeway near the town of Murska Sobota, the embassy in Ljubljana said. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.

The bus which had Romanian registration plates was taking 32 Romanian nationals to Italy.

The 25 passengers who were unhurt were given hot drinks and food and were expected to continue their journey later in another bus.

Photos from the scene showed the bus on its side in the grass beside the road. Marks can be seen where it apparently slid down a grassy slope after breaking through a barrier, AP reported.
