Turns out dining out in the touristic hub Brașov îs a very, very expensive thing to do

The mountain city of Brașov, a popular tourist attraction in the centre of Romania, is not only expensive for dining out in Romania, but also scores among the  least affordable cities in Europe, when local wages are compared to local prices.

The most expensive restaurants in Europe are Athens, Dubrovnik, or Thessaloniki — similarly touristic hubs.

Numbeo’s study reveals significant differences in dining accessibility from one European country to another.

Bern, Zurich, and Geneva are found o be the most affordable for dining out relative to local wages. Paris, Luxembourg City, Frankfurt and Berlin are also places to dine relatively cheaply.

People living in The Hague, Prague, Gothenburg, Lyon, Amsterdam, and Valencia can also eat out easily.

Unfortunately,  Southern and Eastern Europe show significantly lower affordability.

People living in Milan, Naples, and Florence can only afford to dine out roughly 1/3 of time their Swiss counterparts are financially able to.

Kiev and Manila aren’t very budget-friendly either.

Bucharest, Belgrade, and Chisinau put their locals in a rough spot — as do Tallinn and Riga.

Bucharest is more affordable than Athens, but harder on the wallet overall than Budapest, Sofia, Warsaw, Zagreb, or Prague.

Notoriously expensive Cluj, surprisingly, is affordable in comparison to the worse players, but is still rather pricey, on par with Porto and Debrecen.

Fun fact: in all of these places, beer is more affordable than coffee.
