Real estate developer, politician face police probe for ‘inciting violence’ after online threats made to Romanian mayor

A real estate developer who made online threats to a mayor in the central city of Brasov faces a probe for ‘incitement to violence’.

A Liberal Party member who posted a photo-shopped image of Flavia Boghoiu, deputy mayor of Brasov, suggesting she should be beaten, will also be investigated.

Liberal politician Bogdan Pintilie said his post in which Ms Bogiu has a black eye was a joke. But his party which heads the ruling coalition didn’t find it funny. He was forced to resign on Sunday.

Party chairman Florin Citu said “I don’t tolerate any form of incitement to violence.”

Ms Boghiu also took it seriously. On Monday, she filed a complaint with police accusing the pair of “incitement to violence and discrimination.”

Reacting to the original post which was later deleted, real estate developer  Garbis-Vicentiu Kehaiyan said he wished the deputy mayor really could be beaten.

Ms Boghiu has already been targeted in recent months apparently by individuals whose real estate plans haven’t been approved by the town hall.

She filed a complaint after she was followed in traffic and her personal data was published including her address and apartment number, G4Media reported.
