Romania’s Ambassador to the United States, Andrei Muraru says he was “honored” to be received by President Joe Biden at the White House and praised the president for making NATO stronger.

Mr Muraru met the U.S. leader in the context of the war in neighboring Ukraine. Romania is one of the U.S.’s closest and most reliable allies in Blacl Sea region and is playing a key role in defense and the humanitarian crisis.

“Without the courage and determination of President Biden, perhaps NATO would not have been so strengthened and united,” the Ambassador wrote on Facebook.

“Strong alliances and hopeful people have changed and will continue to change the world. More than ever, the times we live in demand a clear and firm voice,” he said.

He said the U.S. leader had a „convincing personal history,” with the Western military alliance as well as with Romania.

„He campaigned for Romania’s integration into NATO, an experience that encouraged him to believe in Romania’s destiny.” Romania joined the alliance in 2004.

He recalled President Biden’s visits to Romania as vice president and U.S. First Lady Jill Biden’s  visit last month to the country.

The First Lady listened to the shocking stories of some of the more than 1.3 million Ukrainians fleeing the barbaric war and arrived in our country.“

During the meeting the ambassador conveyed a message from Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and spoke of „our desire to strengthen the lasting partnership between Romania and the USA.”
