Police evacuated people in the Romanian capital from a petrol station after a man threatened to blow up his car. There were no reports of injuries.
The unnamed man called the emergency services on Monday and said he would detonate his car which was near a petrol station, police said.
“He made a series of threats which constituted a security incident” police said. The area was cordoned off.
“He said he had explosive material in the car trunk and the Romanian Intelligence Agency in cooperation with police,” moved to take control of the situation.
“The man was localized, identified and is now in police custody,” a statement said.
.“Seeing that the car was near a petrol station, people were evacuated and a security area was set up. Traffic is restricted in the area,” police said. No further information was immediately available.
