Actor Dick Van Dyke, who turns 99 in two days, is among the thousands of residents forced to evacuate from Malibu after a rapid wildfire broke out.

So is Cher, and Barba Streisand. Homes owned by Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Jay Z were reportedly among those in the evacuation zone.

Authorities have called it the Franklin Fire. Schools are closed, roads are shut, and power has been cut off locally.

Franklin has burned at least seven homes, cars, buses, but has injured none. Over 3,000 acres of land have been burned.

The Mary Poppins star aid he and on Facebook that his wife Arlene safely left with their pets, except for one cat named Bobo, which remains missing. Evacuation centers have been opened for residents and animals

Witnesses say that the home belonging to the actor’s neighbour had caught fire, but that Dyke’s was untouched.

The blaze broke out near Pepperdine University, where students temporarily sheltered in place, but have remained on campus due to closed roads. Power there is shut off too.

The city of Calabasas is now under threat too.

California Wildfires have the capacity to burn through tens of thousands of acres of vegetation, due to the region’s dryness, fuelled by the seasonal Santa Ana winds.
