Timișoara hosts the Galactic Tick Festival in early September

Timisoara, 2023 European Capital of Culture, will host the Galactic Tick Festival from September 4-10, a unique event in the world, a global celebration that celebrates the movement of our solar system in the Milky Way.

The festival will last for five days and involve 12 cultural events: painting and sacred art exhibitions, flashmob activities, face-painting, sensory theatre, storytelling workshops, children’s fashion show, dances, sugar modelling workshops, first aid workshops, an electronic music concert.

“The Galactic Tick Festival is a cultural project that aims to raise awareness and education within the local community by celebrating the movement of our solar system around the centre of the Milky Way. The festival aligns with an international movement through one-day cultural events celebrating our place in the Universe, science, art and humanity. This year, the galactic tick has been set for September 9”, CVLTARTES team, the organisers of the event, announced in a press release.

On Monday, September 4, the exhibition “Ritual” by Maria Hadiji and Emil Sfera is scheduled to open in Via Lactea, followed by a Sufi dance performance by Mahmoud Elseidi and a harp recital by Orsolya Laszlo.

Every day of the festival, the exhibition can be visited between 12:00 and 20:00 at the Timisoara Project Centre.

On Thursday, September 7, Galactic Halo brings the opening of the exhibition “Radiative Bodies by LUN” by Manuela Marchis Blinda and Cezar Blinda, with a visiting programme open until September 14, between 14:00 and 20:00 hours, at Bratianu Gallery in Timisoara.

On Friday, September 8, Virgo Supercluster invites to a Galactic Dance flashmob with the Chic Dance troupe, coordinated by teacher Adela Scorobete, and from 21:00 the Space Kids Parade is schedule, as is Tanoura dance performance with Mahmoud Elseidi, in Victoria/Operei Square, Liberty Square and Unirii Square in the city.

Saturday is Galactic Tick Day, from 17:00, in the Piata Libertatii (Freedom Square), with workshops in sugar modelling, space dance, Sufi performative dance, galactic face-paintings, storytelling workshops about earth and space, first aid demonstrations, Korean calligraphy.

From 19:00 Thy Veils – Galactic Tick Day – Live Special takes place at On.Set Studio.

On Sunday, September 10, from 13:00 to 18:00, Sagittarius A* will take place, with workshops on sensory theatre, first aid, galactic facepainting, Korean calligraphy, in Piata Libertatii.

From 17:00, the programme continues with the Space Kids Parade by Elena Mazare & Manuela Marchis, in Piata Libertatii Square.

At 19:00 the opening of the sacred art exhibition “Luminarii” is scheduled at the Maria Theresia Bastion, which remains open to the public until September 15, from 10:00 to 18:00, reports Agerpres.
