Tom Odell sang “Another Love” at a fundraising concert in the Romanian capital for the Red Cross to help Ukrainians  on Saturday alongside Romanian artists, DJ Armin van Buuren and Ukrainian singer Jamala who won the 2016 Eurovision song contest.

The day before, the British singer-songwriter sang his hit song which has become a symbol of Ukraine’s resilience on social media, to refugees passing through Bucharest’s main railway station.

The piano ballad about fighting for someone you love has been used on TikTok videos including one of a defiant Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The United Nations says more than 2.5 million Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine. The UN says it may become the biggest refugee crisis this century.

About 380,000 have arrived in Romania, which shares a 615-kilometer border with Ukraine. Thousands have passed through Bucharest’s Gara de Nord railway station each day as volunteers and local authorities offer food, hot drinks, transport and somewhere to stay.

There were emotional scenes on Friday, as the Sussex-born singer-songwriter brought the station to a standstill as passersby gathered in solidarity holding up the Ukrainian colors.

The war is now in its third week and the number of refugees had rapidly grown.
