Cooler weather on the way for much of Romania, but Bucharest, coast will bask in the sun

Cooler weather and thunderstorms are forecast for much of Romania for the rest of the month, meteorologists said Thursday.

Temperatures will dip to a relatively cool 17 to 18 C in the coming days in central and western Romania as the month of August ends.

It will be cloudy and rainy in western Romania on Friday through the weekend. Thunderstorms and unstable weather is expected in mountainous areas, the National Weather Administration said.

Bucharest, southern Romania and the Black Sea coast will continue to enjoy hot weather, with maximum temperatures of 30 to 31C expected. Lows of 10 to 22C are forecast during the night.

Thunderstorms are expected in Transylvania and northeast Moldova region over the weekend.

Bucharest will have a maximum of 28C, about average for the end of August. It will drop to 17C during the night.

The Black Sea coast can expect to see an extended warm spell, especially the southern half which will be spared storms and unstable weather.

Early morning mist is expected in Bucharest and other places, meteorologists said.
